The Elk Rapids Township Hall in Elk Rapids, Michigan, was built in 1883 as a theater, and it became a community center for plays, concerts, dances, political rallies and even local basketball games. It was designed by Charles H. Peale on land donated by Caspar Schuler. The Township Hall was built near the site where Abram Wadsworth, the original white settler in Elk Rapids, on East Traverse Bay, built his cabin.[2]

HERTHA is now beginning a three-year project to rehabilitate this historic Elk Rapids treasure and create a flagship venue for entertainment, meetings and community gatherings.
